2011 - Already!
Four Months in Review:
Cerca Trova Yoga opened in September 2010 and what an amazing and fun 4 months. I doubt I'll be able to do a revies next year as I'll have 12 months to reflect on and in just 4 months I have so much to write about thanks to the wonderful Havertown Community.
We had so much fun watching and trying Belly Dancing with Amailia. Lifting Kettlebells and practicing Naked something (?) and Turkish get up with Michelle (Performance Fitness). Moving our hips with Hola Hoops and filling our hearts with laughter thanks to Leah (Loopdihoops). Basking in the sweet music of Mataprasad aka Dr. Martin Orimenko (Live Well Holistic Center) and enjoying Traci Orimenko's wonderful smile and generous heart. It has been wonderful practicing yoga to music provided by Kirtan artist, Alan Fitz. Tasting wonderful organic foods by Marilyn Moser Waxman (Nourishing Well). Rediscovering ones playfulness and spirit of adventure through "The Artist Way Series" guided by Georgette DuBois. Bathing our eyes in beautiful colors and fabrics thanks to Iris (Padmini Design) and local Havertown artists that share their art work with us at the studio. Meeting and stretching with all the Havertown runners thanks to JoAnn Meyers - what a great group of runners. Learning about and anointing ourselves with Wisdom of the Earth Essences for two weekends thanks to our amazing and very knowledgable Renagade Aromatherapist, Siddiqa Salter. I'm wearing Red Spruce Essence and the Red Spruce essence open beside me as a write. MMM! And what about Siddiqa's Essence classes on Monday - they are delightful - always a new essence to learn about, always a new life lesson, and always a great work out! Then there is the exploration of the most subtle movements with Brooke Welsh who can move with so much freedom and ease into, through and out of her yoga posture. And, yes, super fun Nicole's Kids classes. Nicole has so many creative ways to share yoga with children. We love seeing all the little people moving about the studio. Yes! Whether they are participating or not the seeds are being planted about incorporating yoga into their lives. So keep the little people coming! The teen girls classes are wonderful we are learning about goddesses and started bringing in essential essences to our classes. The men's beginning yoga class is fantastic! What a super supportive group of men and thanks for bringing your sons with you. It's an honor. A big smile and thanks to all the women, that are coming during the day, evening, to the workshops and women's circles, we are exploring so much together and also a very supportive of group of women with huge hearts and open minds. And thanks mom's for bringing your families with you - it's truly heart warming to have an entire family in the studio.
I write a warm thanks to Zuka Baker, Nicoles sister-in-law who painted our Logo on the Door of Cerca Trova. She painted the logo as her mother was passing on. Every time I see the logo on the door, my heart feels much love and gratitude. I will always see Zuka painting the essence of yoga on our door. The logo, a person sitting grounded on earth and raising their arms toward the universe with an open heart and breathing in the joy and beauty of life. Zuka we are all eternally grateful for your gift to the studio and send you and your family our love. Our healing energy we have created in the studio radiates out to all the yogis that came to classes while their family members were passing this fall and winter. I think there must be a big party going on up in the heavens and perhaps the amazing Lunar Eclipse on the Solstice this year was a way for them to let us know they are still with us!
I can't thank you enough for walking through the door and practicing with us!
Love and Laughter
Sharlene
We are back in the Studio practicing surrender in a forward fold (Uttanasana), opening our hearts in backbends (Urdhva Dhanurasana) or variations, looking at the world upside down while in headstand (Sirshasana), handstand (Adho Mukha Vrksasana) or variations, stretching out the hamstrings in seated forward fold (paschimottoanasana) and more --
I Look forward to seeing you - soon - Remember the hardest part is walking through the door.
I've been asked what some of my favorite Mantra's are.
I'm loving the Gayatri Mantra by Devi Premal and Mitten. You can hear it sung on You Tube.
Gayatri Mantra (GUY-ah-tree) is one of the most known mantras and is a very beneficial for physical, emotional, and mental healing, purifying the subtle karmas, protection from the onslaught of obstacles, and of guiding us toward self-realization.
Gayatri Mantra
Aum Bhur Bhuva Svah
Tat Savitur Varenyam
Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi
Dhiyo Yo Naha Prachodayat
A delightful translation by S. Krishnamurthy is:
We meditate upon the radiant Divine Light
of that adorable Sun of Spiritual Consciousness;
May it awaken our intuitional consciousness.
It has been truly wonderful to meet everyone that has walked through the door to date. And as you know I believe the hardest part is walking through the door the rest is easy. Remember you always feel so much better after a yoga practice.
Please join the blog and write a short note or a quote or anything your heart desires.
